For Halloween we bake cookies, this year we cut out our self-drawn witch. We cut out black cats, the moon and the stars too, using cookie cutters. You can print our witch. Cut it out and trace it on a plastic placemat. Then cut out that plastic witch too. Now your pattern stays good to use again and it can be cleaned in the dishwasher.
How to make Witches biscuits for Halloween
Beat butter with sugar and vanilla sugar creamy.
Beat in the egg.
Beat in the sieved flour with the baking powder.
Wrap the dough in cling film.
Allow the dough to rest in the fridge for 1 hour.
Tape the pattern of the witch on plastic.
Trace it and cut it out.
The plastic witch we use to cut.
Preheat the oven to 170°C
Roll the dough to a thickness of +/- 1cm.
Stick on the witch then cut it out.
Place the witches on waxed paper on the baking tray.
Bake the biscuits in 12-15 minutes golden brown.
The cats can be taken from the oven after 10 minutes but the witches need to bake for +/- 15 minutes. We bake two witches, just in case one breaks.
Allow the biscuits to cool on a wire rack.
Cut stars and moons from remaining dough.
Bake those in 8-12 minutes gloden brown.
- While the biscuits cool completely cut out fondant icing already
- Use the template again for the witch, cut out cats, stars and moons using the same cutters from before
Roll the fondant thinly.
Cut out the witches.
Glue the fondant to the biscuits.
Cut out all fondant, stick it on.
Stick all fondant on the biscuits using edible glue.
Press eyes and whiskers in the cats, glitter on moons.
Happy Halloween!
