The Kralingse Bos, where do we start with? Every born Rotterdammer knows it and can also be found there regularly. You can eat and drink anything - from pancakes to haute cuisine - at all kinds of eateries, from small to large, all with terraces. For delicious coffee, french fries, poffertjes and organic ice creams, all eaten on a corona-proof terrace, you naturally go to Forest pavilion De Eekhoorn. It's cozy and really aimed at families, also with very small children. People of all ages love The Eekhoorn (The Squirrel).
But the most beautiful is nature! Everywhere there are trees, shrubs, wild flowers, mushrooms and everything grows and blooms according to their own idea. It is lovely to just walk around, stroll along the paths, looking for adventure with the kids. They collect feathers, pinecones, acorns, stones and branches, all very interesting!
People of all ages walk, jog and run here, together or alone. They ride a bycycle, skate or step. Play ball with the kids, walk their dogs or barbecue and picnic with friends, they relax and hang out. But we like going on adventures and scaveging hunts the most. But in short, there is not much you cannot do in the Kralingse Bos!
The forest is located on the Kralingse plas, where people swim, boat, sail and row. There is an adventure climbing park and a swimming pool for the kids, there are several playgrounds, a beach and a terrific petting zoo: De Kraal. You never have to get bored here, no matter what age you are.
The green in this park is the most amazing, the big old trees, in so many types, in whole sections it feels like a real forest. To us it is quite normal, we are used to going there. But if you stop and think about it: it is actually unbelievable that this - parc or forest - exists in the middle of a busy working city like Rotterdam.
Children en parents in Rotterdam are very lucky, they never have to go far (we can just walk there) to spend a lovely day outside in nature. Truly a three star day trip!
