The mouse book, written by German (Dutch based) author/poet Clinge Doorenbos and illustrated by Nans van Leeuwen, was first published in 1950. It is a special picture book that immediately takes you back to times gone by.
This picture book is also written entirely in rhyme, it seems like an old tradition to rhyme in picture books ;) But if you think beautiful pictures and a few little rhymes, then you are very wrong! It's a really long story, with lots of exciting mouse adventures!
When Mother Mouse is sick in bed and there is not much left to eat in the Mouse's kitchen, the mouse children go upstairs to the people's kitchen. They will go and see if there is anything to eat there by themselves, but... Be careful! Mom warns. Cat walks around in the kitchen.Let's hope this adventure ends well!
