This thick book about crafts and recipes for various winter celebrations we found on sale at bol.com, and it is such a great book! All spiritual winter celebrations are discussed in this book. There is a lot of information to be found about the origins of the festivals, customs and traditions in various countries, very old stories and legends, but also games and fun facts.
Advent has passed us by already, the lanterns and the raisin buns have to wait until next year. Sinterklaas just arrived in The Netherlands so that is right on time!
The book is written by two theologians, naturally it has a religious touch. The winter festivals simply do have a spiritual meaning and reading about it contributes to the general development of children. The book is still very accessible to people who believe differently, because it is written in a pleasant way.
Much attention has been paid to this book and it is executed with a lot of care, which makes it very pleasant to read. The design of the boek also appeals to our little crafters. We're happy with it and going to have a lot of fun with this book.
