It is fun for the younger mini-monsters to get acquainted with the Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. They find the writing very special and also very pretty, the pictures instead of letters! ;)) So the craft we're making today will be writing hieroglyphs in clay. everyone can participate, because you may also come up with your own letters, we are not very strict. Nice right!
How to make a clay tablet with hieroglyphs
Knead the clay until it's soft.
Spread it out with your palms.
Shape it into a coarse rectangle.
Write hieroglyphics in the clay.
You can download an Egyptian alphabet card, courtesy of Scott Peters, at the top of the blog. With our sincere thanks to him for the card.
Let the clay tablet dry for 1 or 2 days
When the caly tablet has dried you can sand it lightly.
Then paint the impressed hieroglyphs in the clay tablet brown.
It is fairly difficult to impress the figures neatly in the clay.
But everyone is doing his / her best so it is looking beautiful already!
Allow the paint to dry completely.
Everyone is very proud of his / her clay tablet!
