We started yesterday in part 1 and today we opened part 2, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. This book is also an easy read but no wonder, first 3 part are the thinnest books. That will soon be different! Fortunately, we can hardly put the books down ourselves, now that we have started again :) For the tasty cookies that we baked today to go with our the reading, we really wanted to make time! But now we read on quickly, part 3 is waiting for us!

How to bake the Harry Potter School Tie Biscuitss

Stir the flour and the baking powder together.

Mix the butter and sugar until creamy and well combined.

Mix in the beaten egg and vanilla essence.

Mix in the flour in three parts.

Knead the dough quickly by hand.

Wrap it in cling film.

Place the dough at least 1 hour in the fridge.

Preheat the oven to 170°C then cover the baking tray in waxed paper

Divide the dough in small parts and knead them quickly by hand.

Roll out the dough to +/- 1cm thickness.

Cut out the neckties.

Place for 15 min. in the fridge.

Bake the biscuits 8 - 10 minutes

The 4 Hogwarts houses - where the Sorting Hat can send you - have the following colors:
Slytherin - Green with white stripes
Gryffindor - Red with yellow scooters
Hufflepuff - Yellow with dark blue stripes
Ravenclaw - Dark blue with white stripes

Let the biscuits cool completely on a wire rack.

Cut ties out of icing fondant in the right colours.

Cut out stripes and stick them onto the ties.

Stick the icing on the biscuits with a tiny drop of water.

Now we quickly make tea, start reading and eat biscuits!
