1 small jar tomato sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons demerara sugar
½ a lemon, juiced
¼ teaspoon mustard powder
¼ teaspoon chili powder
¼ teaspoon garlic flakes
1 shallot, finely chopped
This spicy chili sauce gives a bit of umph to the vegetable patties we make tomorrow. It is also a delicious addition to burgers or chicken.
How to make the chili sauce
Place the tomato sauce with the puree in a bowl.
Juice the half lemon and add the juice to the bowl.
Add the demerara sugar to the bowl as well.
Also add mustard powder and chili powder to the bowl.
Grate the garlic flakes over the mixture.
Add the finely chopped shallot too.
Firmly stir until combined.
Pour the sauce into a sterilized jar.
Then you can keep the sauce for approximately a week.
Store the sauce in the refrigerator!
