What do you need?
a wooden stick
a terracotta plant dish
Bison contact glue
a ball of cotton
wooden beads
adhesive tape
bird food for wild birds
Then you probably want to participate in this little macrame for birds-in-the-winter project that anyone can make. So nice when the birds come to eat in your garden or on your balcony! We knot a macrame bird feeder and put a dish with a stick in it. Then the birds can sit comfortably while they eat.
How to make a Macrame Bird Feeder
First we make the dish ready, then the glue has plenty of time to dry really well
Measure the stick on the dish.
Cut the stick to the right size.
Put glue on the dish and stick.
Press it firmly together.
Let the glue dry really well, preferably overnight
Measure a thread of 65cm and cut it off.
Measure to and fro another 11 threads and cut.
Tie a knot and slide on a wooden bead.
When ready the tassel will be at the bottom, as will the bead. That bead slides easily over the 12 threads if you stick a piece of tape tight around the end of the threads
Place the dish on the tassel, against the bead
Spread the 12 threads.
Make into 6 couples.
Tie knots 5-6cm from the bead.
Tie 2 knots on 9cm from the knots above.*
Knot the 2 outermost strands together at a distance of 9cm from the knot above
Now you have left 4 strands in total
A close up from a knot.
String beads on the top, tie a knot.
Lay out the feeder, put in the dish.
Fill the feeder with bird seeds.
Give it a nice place in your garden or on your balcony.
Happy Winter!
