Today we read another picture book book from the Top 10 of the National Reading Days. The book is called I miss Milo and it is very beautifully and movingly written by poet/children's book writer Pim Lammers.
The little boy who is the main character in this book is very sad, his dearest pet, the turtle Milo, is dead. His mother offers him to choose a new pet and everyone gives him good tips. But the little boy doesn't want a new pet at all, Milo and he belonged together forever?
Sanne te Loo made the very cute illustrations, this is a picture book that will often be read here. Not only because the story is told so beautifully and the illustrations are brilliant, but they help to make a very difficult subject open to discussion with young children. And ... it has a happy ending! Sadly the book is not translated into English.
