As you already read in the title of this blog, tomorrow Thanksgiving Day will be celebrated in the United States of America. On Thanksgiving Day, people give thanks for the harvest and all kinds of other good things that happened in the past year. It is a National Holiday and Americans sometimes travel for days or hours, to spend this day with family.
The festival is celebrated with family and friends, with delicious and plentiful food. Traditionally, the highlight of the Thanksgiving Dinner is the arrival of a (whole) roasted turkey.
Odd, because you see funny turkeys everywhere as decoration. Children also craft turkeys at school and at home. especially for this day. Another fun tradition takes place at the White House, were the President of the United States pardons a Turkey from going on the dinner table.
We rather craft fun turkeys than eat even one for dinner and this is how you make them
Cut out circles.
Stick on wobbly eyes.
Cut out orange triangles.
Score from middle to the point.
Fold the beak on the score line in half
Stick on the beaks.
Stick ice sticks on the back.
Let the glue dry a moment.
Glue the feathers firmly on the back of the turkey.
Finally stick the wattle on the chin of the turkeys.
We wish all the American children in the Netherlands Happy Thanksgiving!
