the pattern
scissors
pins
white and light (grey)green felt
embroidery thread, white
an embroidery needle
wool filling
a wooden skewer
small twig
drops of glue
red, white, blue ribbons

Today we are making a peace dove which reminds us that we have been celebrating peace and freedom on May 5th for many years. It is important to reflect on this today, especially now that there is so much suffering in the world.

How to make the dove

Download and print the pattern, then cut it out

Pin the pattern onto the felt.

Cut out the dove.

Pin and cut out another dove.

Pin front and back together.

Blanket stitch the dove together.

Leave a gap to fill the dove.

Then sew the gap closed.

Stick a skewer into the dove.

Tie the ribbons in a bow.

Cut small olive leaves from felt.

Stick them on the twig.

Draw the eyes and insert the twig into the beak.

We place the dove between the Dutch Tulips!
