Recently our attention fell on this beautiful picture book from 2018, about the past and that is also the name of the book, In the Past. As you already understand, the book has not been translated into Dutch and that is a great shame. Because there are so many Dutch children with a lot of interest in the past, especially the part in which life on earth originated.
Our monsters are also fascinated by the smallest underwater animals, large flying insects and dinosaurs of course! In this book you see them in all their splendor. The book was written by the American author and anthropologist (the science of humans and their environment) David Elliott. This book is part 5 of a 7-part series In the ... Part 8, At the Poles, will be published in October.
The book doesn't have much to offer in terms of information, although the short rhymes are good. For us (and the monsters!) the artwork is the key, the breathtaking illustrations are by Matthew Trueman. This is the only book in the series that he illustrated, almost every book has a different illustrator.
