Today we are making the Indian family that lives in the Teepee. It is a father, mother and three children. We are making the children first, they have painted clothes, we are only making a headband for them and moccasins. Then we are making mom and dad, there is more work involved!
How to make the family
Paint all the heads of the dolls.
Paint the kid's clothing.
Paint eyes on the kids.
Paint the hands and glue them on the dolls.
Measure, cut and sew their head bands with a feather, but do not stick them on their heads yet
First paint the hair on the dolls, all th children have plaited hair.
When the hair is dry you glue on the head band.
The kids are almost ready, finally glue the moccasins (shoes) on
Cut out the patterns and pin them onto felt.
Cut all the patterns from the felt.
Cut for mum a dress and 2 sleeves
How to make father
Cut out pants, shirt and 2 sleeves.
Sew the sleevs wit a flap.
Sew the sleeves in the shirt.
Sew shirt and pants on the doll.
Snip in the flaps on the sleeves, to make a fringe
Wrap embroidery yarn around your hand and tie it off.
Cut in half, braid the yarn and tie it off.
Paint the hair an stick the braids on the head.
Sew a head band with feathers for dad and stick it on his head
Cut and glue on shoes and dad is ready too!
- Sew the dress for the mother in exactly the same way as the shirt for the father
- You can decorate the dress of the mum with tiny beads, instead of crosses like on the father's shirt
- The hair of mum is the same, with only longer braids and we gave her a shawl and a bracelet
- Her shoes are the same as dad's and the children's
Here is Mum, also all ready!
Finally here you see the complete family!
Have lots of fun on the prairie!
