Shopping list
500g semolina + some extra
50ml olive oil
7
g dried yeast
10
g salt
15g fine sugar
300ml lukewarm water
1 free range organic egg
a tablespoon milk

Semolina broodjes home

Today we bake Italian bread rolls with Semolina flour. Easy to prepare, the mixer does the job, and very tasty! Tomorrow the recipe for a tasty sandwich,  with delicious Italian toppings, based on The Godfather films ;))

How to make semolina bread rolls

Weigh and measure all ingredients.

Put it all in the mixer.

Mix it for 5 minutes.

Grease a large, clean bowl.

Form a ball from the dough

Place the dough in the bowl.

Cover with a clean tea towel.

Let the dough rise for 60 - 90 minutes.

Grease a baking mat with some oil.

Flatten the dough.

Divide it into 8x 100 grams.

Put the dough back in the bowl.

Cover the dough again and let it rest for 20 minutes

Take the dough from the bowl.

Form it into elongated rolls.

Grease a sheet of cling film.

Cover the bread rolls with it.

Let the rolls rise 60 minutes.

Brush with beaten egg and milk.

Sieve some semolina over the rolls.

Preheat the oven to 200°C and bake the bread rolls in the middle of the oven in 20 - 25 minutes golden brown and cooked

Allow the rolls to cool a moment on the baking tray.

Transfer the semolina bread rolls to a wire rack, to cool completely.
