packet of puff pastry sheets (10)
50 g very ripe Gouda cheese
packet of mozzarella/cheddar cheese mix
1 free range egg
some water + a brush
In November and December we eat lots of sweet things. The Sint brings all sorts of goodies and later on in the Christmas Season we will be making a lot of sweet treats too. That's why these savory cheese miters taste very good for a change!
How to make Sinterklaas cheese miters
Defrost the puff pastry sheets until very cold.
Cover the baking tray with waxed paper.
Beat one free range egg.
Grate 50g of very ripe Gouda cheese.
Mix the ripe cheese with 150g cheese mixture.
Cut the puff pastry sheets in half.
Spoon cheese on the pastry..
Preheat the oven to 200°C
Seal the top and one side with water, stuff with more cheese.
Seal the other side and cut off the two top corners.
Cut long strips of dough to make the cross.
Stick the crosses on using some water and a brush.
Spread 12 miters on the baking tray.
Brush the miters with the beaten egg.
Bake the miters golden brown in 12 minutes.
Allow the miters to cool on a wire rack.
Present the miters on an appropriate serving dish, half black/half white ;))
