Frog and Toad

This week our choice falls on a book from 1981, Frog and Toad Together. Funny, exciting, short stories about two very best friends, written and drawn by the American children's author/illustrator Arnold Lobel. Arnold Lobel's books have been awarded several times with Newberry and Caldecott Honors, prestigious awards in the United States.

Arnold Lobel once explained that Frog and Toad are the two sides of his own personality, the adventurous Frog and the awkward, clumsy Toad. That the best friends are so recognizable and believable seems to be the reason why they still appeal to a global audience of young readers.

Together, Frog and Toad experience big and small adventures, in the garden, with the birds or in their dreams. The stories are always original and written with a good sense of humor. The illustrations are brilliant and sometimes even moving.
