In 1986 the first picture book Een ijsbeer in de tropen (Little Polar Bear) by Dutch author / illustrator Hans de Beer was published. The story tells about the young polar bear Lars, who unintentionally drifts to a warm place on an ice shard. The book was an immediate success. They have now been translated into 18 languages and they are a huge success worldwide.
The beautiful drawings in pastel colors are very appealing and the little polar bear is so cute. The mini-monsters love Lars and his adventures in the tropics. A wonderful book to read out loud!
