British artist/illustrator/children's book author Catharine Rayner creates the most beautiful picture books. You will see a lot more of her on snazzie in the future, we predict! This year we not only bought the cute little book, but the one with a Solomon finger puppet included. The DVD is also included at the back of this booklet. The little monsters absolutely love it!
But this picture book is different from most others. Beautiful, yes, but Krrrr...okodil is not a picture book hero as they usually are. Krrr...okodil likes to tease the other animals, sometimes scaring them to death. Maybe not on purpose, because he sheds a tear when the other animals don't want to play with him. He likes what he does and apparently feels misunderstood.
Opinions about this book are very divided, at daycare the toddlers find the book hilarious and so do the nannies, at school the teachers are not so happy with Krrrr...oko's bullying behavior! The end of the story is open, kids can make up their own mind about how it ends. But that is also not to everyone's taste. So just read the book and judge for yourself. That's always best!
