Shopping list for +/- 125 kruidnootjes
250g self-raising flour
125g soft dark brown sugar
1 tbspoon gingerbread spices
150g butter, in cubes
4 tablespoons of milk
pinch of salt
With very little effort you have a big result as you bake kruidnootjes (gingerbread nuts) with the kids. They find it super fun and can do lots of it themself. The youngest knead dough, roll balls, cut them with a plastic knife and put half the balls on the baking sheet. And that's about all there is to it!
There even are mini-monsters who stand the full quarter in front of the oven, to see the kruidnootjes bake ;D
Sift the flour into a bowl and add all other ingredients.
Mix all together until you have large crumbs.
Knead by hand until smooth, wrap the dough in cling film.
Allow the dough to rest for 1 hr. in a cool place.
Do not place the dough in the refrigerator, then the dough will become too hard!
Preheat the oven to 160°C and place parchment paper on two baking trays.
Roll balls of the dough between your hands and cut them in half.
Place kruidnootjes on small spaced rows until the tray is full.
Bake the kruidnootjes for +/- 15 minutes, let them cool completely.
The miniature cookies are yummie, they disappear in record time. Because mini-monsters are the very best in eating all cookies!
Make a fun treat by folding transparent foil bags and fill them with kruidnootjes, candy and chocolate coins.
Happy Sinterklaas celebration to all!
