For our Lunar New Year book this year, we chose a very beautiful and moving Buddhist story from Chinese mythology: Kuan Yin. The story is completely different from Western princess stories, so we don't think this - beautiful picture book - is very suitable for children aged 4 and up. But that's our opinion.
We read the story to the older monsters. It's about two princess sisters with a strict, hard-hearted father. Who wants to marry off his eldest daughter and punishes her if she doesn't want to be marroed. Her little sister is very sad and misses her big sister, will they find each other again?
The exquisite illustrations are made by Wen Hsu, she is a briljant Taiwanese-Costa Rican ilustrator/artist. Her charming, delicate art work is very beautiful. The colours are so special, very light and dainty. A very special picture book to treasure for life!
3+ bright sparkling stars for Kuan Yin, from the young monsters and their out-loud-readers!
