On youtube we saw these beautiful lights for Divali, the mini monsters wanted to make them right away. But they are too difficult for the younger monsters, even when mom cuts with the knife. They can help, for example with sticking on the flames and that is also nice.
Use LED lights for safety! We just wanted to show you how beautiful a tea light is, but our purple lantern immediately caught fire! Luckily we stayed next to it so it was put out immediately and no harm done ;)
How to make Diwali lanterns
We put the pattern of the lanterns on PDF to download but you can make them as big or small as you like
Trace the drop on yellow cardstock.
We fold the paper in half.
We drew a drop.
Cut out the drop shape.
This is how the drop looks.
We fold it and draw again.
Cut out the drop inside.
You may print the pattern, cut it out and trace it neatly, cut out the inner drop and the little drop is also on the pattern!
We made it easy for you ;))
Draw 9 little drops shapes.
Cut them out.
Cut out the inner ones as well.
Stick all the drops on cardstock.
Now you can see that the teardrop shape is actually a flame shape too!
Cut out the cardstock around the flames with a margin.
Cut out the inside using a exacto knife.
Cut out the inside of the little flames as well.
We make a pink one too.
Cut out pieces of matching cardstock.
Fold the narrow sides upward.
Put some glue on both the ends.
Press the glued sides on the back and the front of the lantern, allow the glue to dry comepletely!
Glue the topsides together and tie a ribbon on.
Put in Led lights and hang your lanterns in a good spot!
Our Diwali Lantern looks pretty on the cupboard!
Shubh Diwali! Happy Divali!
