75g butter (room temperature)
75g caster sugar
½ free-range organic egg (room temperature)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
125 grams of Zeeland flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
300g icing sugar
3 drops lemon juice
1-2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Smarties
edible black felt-tip pen
It's still cold outside, but warmer spring weather is coming soon, we're sure of it! To tell this to our little monsters, we read lots of fun picture books about Spring to them and (of course!) we bake cute Spring cookies.
How to bake our sweet spring cookies
Put butter and sugar in the mixer.
Mix it until creamy.
Pour in half the egg and vanilla.
Mix until combined.
Fold ithe flour in until all is combined.
Knead it briefly by hand until smoothe.
Roll the dough in cling film, place it in a clean bowl.
Place the dough in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 170°C, place baking paper on the baking tray and knead the dough briefly by hand
Roll the dough to 1 cm thickness.
Cut out --cm circles.
Place the biscuits on the tray.
Bake the biscuits for +/- 10 minutes.
Bake the biscuits until light golden brown
Let cool on the baking tray for 5 minutes.
Then move them to a wire rack.
Make icing while the biscuits cool.
Stir it all together well until you have the desired colour.
Spoon some on a biscuit and push it carefully to the edges.
We make green grass and a blue sky.
Push the Smarties into the wet icing on the biscuits.
Make a colourful caterpillar.
A cheerful snail.
And / Or a pretty butterfly!
Draw on faces using the edible marker.
