Today we are making a special Advent calendar for our little monsters, with walnut shells. It took some work to crack 12 walnuts neatly, we wanted them without any damage. It turned out not to be the only hurdle we had to overcome.
The little surprises we wanted to hide in the shells almost all turned out to be too big! It took some serious thinking, but the end result makes up for everything. We can't wait for the monsters to open the first nut shell! It will be a surprise what will come out for us as well...
How to make this special Advent calendar
Paint the walnut shells gold.
Let the paint dry completely.
Cut pieces of 8x8cm tissue paper.
Press the paper into the nut shells.
Now we're going to look for little 'treasure' to hide in the nutshells, but that's harder than we thought! We had selected beautiful little shells and stones, little dolls and small stickers, but unfortunately they do not fit in...everything has to be really tiny
Allmost everything is too big!
We have to make some things.
We choose to make easy jewelry.
With double rings you slide the hearts onto the earrings and necklace, glue an eyelet in a pretty bead and slide it onto the key ring
Done, you've made 3 treasures!
Fill half the shells with little sweets.
Finally this are our 'treasures'.
They just fit in the shells!
Fold the paper closed.
Stick a treasure shell and a candy shell alternately
Stick the nut shells on both sides of the ribbon together.
Allow the glue to dry and place your Advent Calendar in a nice spot.
Wishing you a beautiful advent!
