What do you need?
a piece of felt,orange or yellow
small pieces of felt, in matching lion colours
yarn and a needle
embridery yarn and a needle
scissors
We sew a felt lion for a child's hand, so we can play along with the books we read (aloud). We sew everything with a lockstitch, the eyes and nose of the lion and his mane, with yarn. For the smile and to close the pattern, we use an embroidery needle and embroidery yarn. Met het patroon op PDF is de leeuw niet moeilijk te maken. Met een klein beetje hulp kunnen grotere kinderen het zelf.

Cut out the pattern.
Pin it on the felt.
Cut out the pattern.
Repeat it.
Cut out the ears, nose and eyes.
Sew eyes and nose on the lion.
Embroider the smile.
Cut strips of felt for the mane.
Fold double, pin on the underside.
Sew on the mane with yarn.
Sew the ears (three parts).
Place the ears on the mane then pin the front on top.
Sew the lion all around using a lockstich.
