What do you need?
een empty milk or water carton
acrylic paint and a paintbrush
Stanley knife
twigs from the garden or a parc
Bison glue
wooden skewer and a string
seeds for wild birds
peanuts
needle and string
Because it is getting colder we make for World Animal Day a little birdfeeder, for the birds. The painting takes time. You need three coats of paint to cover. The drying in between takes a few hours too. Maybe too long for toddlers, too long for Puk anyway :) While we are waiting we string shelled peanuts. The birds will be so pleased!
How to make the Birdfeeder
Paint the carton in a nice colour.
It needs three layers to cover, but Puk thinks 1 ilayer is enough.
Allow the paint to dry well.
Cut a door in the carton.
Of course you cut and paste on the twigs yourself :)
Cut the twigs to the right size.
Stick them on the sloping sides.
Cut one longer twig too.
Use scissors to prick a hole in the front of the house, near the bottom. Stick the longer twig in it so the birds can sit.
Puk fills the birdhouse with seeds and peanuts; he has worked hard.
We hang the birdhouse in a tree in the garden.
Puk informs me that it says 'BIRDS-HOU-SE' on the front the birdhouse, isn't that convenient for the birds! :D
