Make a catapult

because boys will be boys...

March 05, 2015 Outdoor Play Recycling Woodworking

What do you need?
lopping shears
a forked branch
a rubber band
coarse sanding paper
chalk
pinecones or tin foil

Adventurous boys and girls like to make mischief. What's more fun than to shoot with a catapult? Teach them not to aim at other kids and let the shoot only soft stuff. Like short twigs or pine cones. Chalk a target on the fence or at a wall.

Find a forked branch and cut it off.

Find a thick rubber band and tie it on the ends of the fork.

With a piece of coarse sandpaper you sand the handle.

The catapult is finished! Let's put it to the test outside.

First a cautious try out, then pull a bit harder and bulls eye! A dance of joy follows!

All week long the boys have fun with their catapults!
