Tomorrow is National Animal Day and this year we make no crafts for our pets. for them every day is Animal Day. Today we are making a trendy birdhouse. Actually, it is not a house for the birds, but a feeding board. Even better! When the will weather get colder, the garden birds will really need this extra food.
Also this trendy feeding board looks pretty in our tree and we enjoy watching the birds coming to eat in the garden. From tomorrow they can stop by and eat comfortably and at their leisure.
How to make the trendy feeding board
Make 4 pencil marks on the plank at a distance of 30 cm from each other.
Sand the 4 planks nice and smooth, especially the sawn edges.
Make a mark of 1 cm at the ends of the planks.
Place 2 dots on the lines at cm from the sides.
Drill little holes on the dots.
Make little holes using the -- drill.
Drill holes of 3mm in the wood using an electrical drill.
Draw 8 stripes of 8 cm long on the 3mm round wood.
Cut 8 straight pieces of 3 mm round wood.
Brush some glue on the ends with the holes
Hammer the round pieces into the holes.
Drill a hole in the middle of the 4th piank.
Glue in a piece of 8mm round wood.
Let the glue dry completely.
Rub the wood with bees wax.
Let the wax absorb and rub out.
Drill an 8mm hole in the little bowl.
Use an 8mm drill, press the little bowl firmly on but do not glue it in place, so you can easily clean it now and then
Twist the eyelet on top of the bird feeder, in the middle.
Tie a string on the eyelet and hang your bird feeder in a tree.
If you fill the bowl with seeds for wild birds, you'll soon have company!
Happy Animal Day!
