embroidery yarn, white and black
Madelief wants to make a white elephant for her Mum, her Mum told her a story about one. She draws an elephant by herself and then she saws it on the sewing machine. She does it almost without help, very good!
Here is how you make a (white) elephant
Draw an elephant + 2 ears or download and print Madelief's.
Cut out the elephant with a margin to sew.
Pin the elepant and 2 ears on double folded fabric.
Cut the patterns out of the fabric, the 'good' side on the inside..
Remove the pins and the pattern from the fabric. Pin all parts back together.
Stitch the elephant all around closed but leave his tummy open to stuff it.
After the elepant close the ears in the same way. Turn the parts inside out.
Fill the body and the ears with fiberfill stuffing.
Close the fill opening by hand or sewing machine.
Attach the ears firmly on to the head by hand.
Knot three short threads of embroidery yarn together.
Braid them together in to a tail with a little tassel at the end.
Sew the little tail on the elephants back by hand.
Sew on the head three stitches black over each other, the eyes.
The elephant is ready, it looks so cute, very well done by Madelief!
