With the wonderful book Hier woon ik (This is where I live) you can also play, if you make some miniature furniture to go with it. What do you like to do at home? Eating? That's great! Because we start with the dining table and the chairs.
How to make the mini furniture
You can measure and cut by yourself, like we did, or download our template
Draw with a pencil and ruler strips (4 cm) on cardboard.
Cut the strips from the cardboard.
Cut off a 14cm piece, score it on both sides.
Cut out a small rectangle on both sides.
Fold on the scores and the table is done.
Cut a cardboard srip of 2.5 cm width.
Cut off 4 pieces of 6.5cm.
Also cut off 4 pieces of 5.5cm, score on 1cm and 2.5cm.
Draw rectangles (legs) again and cut them out.
Glue the front of the chairs to the backs.
We made the backs of two chairs slightly shorter.
Now we allow the glue on the chairs to dry completely, meanwhile we make the floor.
We measure the extreme sides of the book.
Trace a bow with pencil using a big plate.
Cut off the cardboard and paint it.
First give the table and chairs a layer of primer.
When the primer is dry finish with a nice coloured paint.
Brighten the dining set with a tablecloth or place a nice rug on the floor for example. You can see it in the book, Fiep loved to decorate the house with bits and bobs!
As the month progresses we will make more furniture for your playhouse. Coming tuesday for instance, we make beds!
