How to make a Koi carp card
Make the fish first...
Cut an envelope in 2 parts, the front and the back, then remove the flap. Cut the front of the envelop (which is prettiest) in 2 equal squares.
Choose the prettiest printed square of the two.
Trace the cut out pattern on the back of the square.
Cut it out then glue the slits over each other, front over back.
Stick the wobbly eyes on the head of the fish.
then fold the tail, in two parts.
Cut a new front off an envelope, cut into two same size squares.
Fold two points of the square diagonally together.
Fold back the top leaving a small edge on the bottom.
Fold the same edges until there are no more left.
Flip the triangle over, fold it in the same way.
The folding of the tail should look like this now.
Fold the tail in half with glue in between.
Fold the second part of the tail in the same way. You can stick the tail on in two ways, long or short, we chose short so that the tail does not protrude from the card. If you do not mind and prefer a long, more realistic tail, do not fold part 2 double but stick it in between part 1 just as it is.
Allow the glue to dry with a clothes pin on.
Glue part two on, allow it to dry.
Glue the fish on the tail.
Write with or without a template a New Years greeting in the card.
Stick the fish on the card, decorate the front with gold marker.
Happy New Year 2018!
