Today we are going to make an attempt that at something we already thought about last year, piping chocolate letters (a Dutch Sinterklaas tradition) ourselves. First of all, we really like piped chocolate, two, we like to make our own chocolate letters and third, we especially ordered beautiful boxes ;)) How they will turn out is the question, but we do our best, as always!
How to make your own chocolate letters
Start by melting the chocolate au bain marie
Bring a layer of water to the boil.
Immediately place a fireproof bowl on it.
Chop the chocolate into little pieces.
Place the chocolate in the fire proof bowl.
Remove the chocolate from the heat when it is half melted
Stir the chocolate briefly and let it cool.
Find your piping bag already and put it together.
While the chocolate is cooling beat the soft butter until creamy
We use the hand held mixer.
Set the butter aside for now.
Draw an S on baking paper*.
Add the chocolate to the butter and stir.
Place a clean sheet of baking paper on top of your drawing, so you don't pipe on the pencilmarks
The chocolate should be a thick liquid now.
Spoon the chocolate into the piping bag.
Pipe the letter nice and thick on top of the S.
Place a large bowl over the letter.
Allow the letter to set in the fridge.
Meanwhile cut Sinterklaas figures out of fondant icing.
Stick them on with melted chocolate and stick on some nuts.
You can make the icing fondant figures as simple or as difficult as you like, for example a miter and staff are easy to make and look also cute
Place the chocolate letter carefully in a pretty box.
We already are looking forward to Pakjesavond!
A Happy Sinterklaas time!
