We are staying with ancient Egypt for a while, because it's so fascinating and also it's sping break. Time enough to visit the Museum of Antiquities in Leiden. Such a beautiful, amazing museum you can not visit enough. Today we model a scarab from clay, not real looking but like we believe is beautiful. Just like the ancient Egyptians snazzies mini-monsters very much love gold and precious stones ;)
How to make your own Scarab
Cut off a rectangular piece of clay.
Bend the head of a plastic spoon.
To and fro until it comes off.
Press the head into the clay.
Press firmly so you get a sharp print in the clay.
Cut out legs and shield and allow the clay to dry overnight.
Paint inside the notches of head and shield and legs.
Paint another beautiful colour onto the scarab itself.
Allow the paint to dry then stick on the eyes.
The scarab turned out just as pretty as we had in mind!
