Today we are making a musical instrument because it is the first day of the Chinese New Year. In China, the kids bring in the New Year with a lot of noise because noise drives away the old year :)) Our mini-monsters love to make noise too! We make two jingle bell shakers (shakers) out of wood - 1 for each hand - then they last a long time. And ... with these instruments we keep the noise under control!

Children from the age of approximately 10 years can saw and drill themselves, always under the supervision of an adult of course! If the children are younger, we prefer to do it ourselves.

Saw off 2 sticks of +/- 25 cm each.

Sand the cutting edge smooth.

Place dots on both sticks.

Clamp the sticks tight to drill.

Place four dots at a distance of 2.5cm and use a glue clamp to secure the sticks while drilling.

Varnish the holes side of the sticks.

Dty? Then varnish the other side.

Stick pipe cleaners through the holes.

  • Thread the bell on the pipecleaner and stick it back through
  • Twist the pipe cleaner tight then cut it off
