Our choice of the week is a very special book by Wouter van Reek: Nadir and Zenith in the world of Escher. A book in which the beautiful, incredibly complicated technical prints of world famous Dutch graphic artist M. C. Escher can be seen. His fascinating work is very attractive for children too. You have to look very carefully at what you see in his work. You see things that can't be and yet they can ;)

For the work and life of Escher has always been a lot of interest. In 2002 the permanent exhibition Escher in the Palace was opened in The Hague, former palace of Queen Emma of the Netherlands. Over 150 prints of Escher can be seen in the in the beautifully restored palace, including his most famous work and a changing selection of graphics and surface fillings. The palace is open from Tuesday to Sunday, if you would like to see Escher's work in real life after reading the book.

A visit to the Escher Museum is a fun outing for Spring break. In the museum are cool colouring pages available for little visitors. Children from the age of 7 and up can attend a workshop of lino-cutting on Sundays. This way they learn much about the graphic techniques that Escher used.

3 radiant stars for Nadir and Zenith in de world of Escher!
