May is a beautiful month in the garden, the weather is getting milder and the ice saints are coming up ;)) After May 11, we can put out the potted annual plants and also your seedlings, if you have any. Apart from herbs, we have unfortunately not sown this year because it has been a disaster for two years in a row, due to a slug invasion. We do need to sow the grass! After removing weeds, there are many bare spots that will be filled in by grass seeds. Also the hedge is in desperate need for a pruning!
We still have a lot of work to do on grass and hedge, and the weeds are also sprouting from the ground with the alternating sunshine and rain showers. But everything is fresh green and is either budding or in bloom. A few hesitant leaves have already appeared on the truncated Acacia, the pruned raspberry is growing at full speed. The blueberry has white flowers and the currant tree is totally covered in flowers.
Every morning, two great tits are in the garden, they are chirping cheerfully.
They search for food or fly back and forth between the hedge and the bushes. Maybe they want to build a nest. The mini monsters are anxiously waiting, they would find it super fun of course. But after a rain shower the birds have found another attraction next to the bushes, taking a bath in the saucers under the plants is also nice! The Sprirea is almost completely white. The dandelions bloom in abundance, they are so beautiful, we don't like to remove them. But when they get fluffy, we are screwed, there will be many, many more next year! The Prunus is in bloom and here's a close up of our blue bells, they bloom so beautifully!
Snow Balls (Viburnum), Ribes, and Wistaria (Blue Rain)
The bumblebees visit the last Blue Grapes on the table. We have to wait a little less than a week and then we have been to the garden centers and the bees can enjoy the new potted plants again. We are already looking forward to it, so much fun to choose and pot new plants in all the different colours. Then the garden is even prettier!
