For King's Day we are making cakepops, together with the kids (little ones included) it is a fun job! We use a store-bought cake, it saves time and you can't taste the difference anyway. Make some butter cream and you can start right away!
How to make cakepops
Mix cream with butter, icing sugar, cocoa and water.
Crumble the cake then add the crumbs to the butter cream.
Knead it until combined and roll into balls.
Dip sticks into the melted chocolate, push into the balls.
Let the cakepops harden in the fridge for at least 3 hours before you continue.
Melt the remaining white chocolate.
Stir in some orange food colour.
Dip the cakepops in the orange chocolate.
Make at least one cakepop king by not pressing on sprinkles but eyes and press on a marzipan nose and mouth too. Paint blond hair with edible foodpaint and stick on the crown.
Let the chocolate dry a bit and rol it in sprinkles.
Stick the cakepops in styrofoam to dry completely.
Place in the fridge when all are done.
Sticking the cakepops in oranges is a bad idea!
Because of little room in the fridge to store we wanted to let the cakepops harden in small numbers. But the oranges make the sticks wet, weak and yellow. So do not make our mistake!
Cut a crown out of icing fondant, bend it round.
Paint it golden with edible food paint.
Stick the crown on the King's still wet hair.
Stick the cakepops in a large jugs, filled with styrofoam.
Have lots of fun on Kings Day!
