Shopping list (12 mini cakes)
100 grams butter (room temperature) + extra
100 grams of fine sugar
2 free-range organic eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
100 grams self-raising flour
pinch of salt
Orange glaze
150 grams of powdered sugar
tablespoons of water
edible food coloring, orange
optional: sprinkles
The mini monsters love King's Day, put on your party hat and go outside to the flea market. Eating delicous treats, buying nice toys from other children. All very much fun! Then go home with your 'new' treasures and drink delicious tea with - how could it be otherwise? - orange cakes.
How to make Orange cakes
Beat butter and sugar until pale and creamy.
First beat one egg into the butter mixture .
Beat in the second egg and the vanilla.
Preheat the oven to 160°C and cut strips of baking paper
Grease and powder a cupcake tin.
Stir the flour and salt to combine.
Fold the flour into the batter.
Press the strips of baking paper into the tin.
Scoop the holes half full with batter and slide the baking pan in the middle of the oven
Bake the cakes in 15 minutes cooked.
Let the cakes cool in the baking tin.
Then move them onto a wire rack.
How to make an orange glaze
Stir the icing sugar with water and lemon juice.
Stir the orange food colouring into the glaze.
Cut the puffed top off the cakes.
Spread the glaze over the cakes.
Scatter the sprinkles on top and let the glaze dry.
