A rangoli is actually a very beautiful work of art, sprinkled with coloured chalk or sand. It is a traditional Hindu technique. Today we draw rangoli on paper plates, with our youngest mini-monsters. We are using everything we have, felt tip pens, a gold marker and our glitter paint. That's why the colours become beautifully deep and expressive for Diwali, just like in India! Rangoli translated from Sanskrit means 'creative expression of art through the use of colour'. That is exactly what it is and we like it very much!
How to make rangoli
We start with the edge.
Draw all kinds of patterns.
Puk is also drawing.
The he starts to colour.
Colour the edges then fill it in.
Puk works hard, he is already done!
Fill the open spaces with gold.
Paint with the same colours on top of the felt pens.
Allow the paint to dry well!
Shubh divaalee - Happy Diwali!
