Today is Michaelmas. We read the Land-of-Long-Ago to the mini-monsters. A beautiful picture book by Swedish children's book author / illustrator Elsa Beskow. Her books are loved on Waldorf Schools globally and we love them too. She wrote and illustrated at least 40 books, which are all sold still very well.
Elsa Beakow's imaginative stories usually have an undertone of good overcoming evil. Mostly there are rolls in the story for gnomes, trolls and fairies and we humans can talk to animals. The stories are fairytale-like but the children who play the leading role in her books are very enterprising, which is not a bad thing to read for children of today! And you can't get enough of the beautifully coloured, nostalgic prints.
