250g selfraising flour
250g fine caster sugar
250g butter (room temperature)
4 tablespoons milk
3 free range eggs (room temperature)
1 sachet vanilla sugar
fondant icing or marzipan
icing pen
gold pearls
Today we make red, white, blue cupcakes because it is Liberation Day on May 5th, the day that in 1945 the Second World War ended in the Netherlands. Well worth celebrating!
Bake the cupcakes and pipe some icing on the edge.
Cut circles out of fondant, stick them on the cupcakes.
Cut out of fondant red strips of 10 x 2 cm.
Cut white strips of 10 x 2 cm out of the fondant.
Also cut the same strips out of blue fondant.
Roll the strips like you see in the picture.
Pipe a little edge around the fondant circles.
Press the roses onto edges around the cupcakes..
Cut hearts out of fondant icing and paint them golden.
Also paint the exterior edge of the heart.
Allow the heart to dry then stick it in the middle.
A variation on the first cupcake is quickly made
Cut out red and blue cirkels then cut them in half.
Stick a white strip in the middle.
Stick roses and golden pearls on the cupcakes.
