For the year 2025 - which is the Year of the Snake according to the Chinese New Year - we will fold mouse ladders, which we will stick together. This is also called accordion folding. Everyone chooses their most beautiful colours of paper strips and then we start. The folding is very easy and the little monsters really enjoy this craft. Once you get the hang of it, it goes faster and faster and the snakes get longer and longer :))
How to make these snakes
Choose 2 pretty colours.
Stick the ends together.
Fold green upward.
Fold pink to the left, fold green downward.
- Alternately fold green up and down and pink from left to right.
- Continue until the strip is used up and you have made your first mouse ladder!
Press your mouse ladder firmly together.
Cut off uneven ends.
Glue the end together.
Fold as many as you like.
Stick the ladders together.
Flatten a toilet roll.
Draw a head on it and cut it out.
Slide the head onto your snake to fit, now you can easily make it smaller or trim it rounder, if you like
Do not yet glue the head on!
But paint the head a pretty colour.
Various colours also looks beautiful!
First paint the inside and then the outside of the snake's head and let the paint dry thoroughly!
Stick wobbly eyes on the head.
Cut a snake's tongue.
Glue the tongue into the head.
Meet Snakey, the smallest of the gang!
This is Serpentus, his name sounds dangerous but he's very sweet!
This snake is called Happy, she brings you a Happy Lunar New Year!
We wish you a wonderful Lunar New Year!
