The red currant bush
Our red currant bush is the star of the kitchen garden! After a firm pruning last Autumn it shot out sunstantially. It gave us lots of beautiful, red berries and the birds got their share too.
We have just picked the last ones. We put them in sugar, to go in the yogurt.
Even though the vegetable garden does very well, there are laggards every year. Despite the mild winter, the olive tree did not survive. The strawberry plant has given no strawberries after a few fruits in June and the radish has a lot of leaves but no radishes. Too bad! We try again next year.
It will stay extremely hot and dry for the present as it has been since the beginning of July. We had to lug a lot of water and luckily everything is still looking good. But a big rain shower in the night would be very welcome!
