Every year in May we think about the end of the Second World War and how lucky we are to live in peace. Especially now! We read a beautiful book to the monsters that is set in that war and it was written by Bibi Dumon-Tak. The story is based on a true story and it is very special. Moving, funny, sad and exciting. It is a truly beautiful book!
The brilliant gray/white illustrations which were made by Philip Hopman contribute a lot to the atmosphere of the book. His people but also the bear have so much expression on their faces and in their posture, they are brought to life. The book is a perfect whole that has rightly won a prestigious prize. We are all very impressed by it, you will not soon forget this story!
