Today the children's book week 2022 starts and the theme is Gi-ga-green! Soortenschat (Species Treasury), written by the Dutch biologist and writer Geert Jan Roebers, is a book that is of good use to you if you love nature. It belongs to the Children's Canon of the Low Countries.
The beautiful illustrations are made by the Flemish Pieter Fannes. All trees, plants and animals are drawn very faithfully, which is of course very handy if you want to learn to recognize the species. But the colourful drawings also are often funny and sometimes creepy. The mini-monsters think they're awesome!
