Packet of 'speculaas' or gingerbread mix (AH)
40 ml water
box of shaved almonds
This box of cookie mix is a present from Sinterklaas but the flour is past the sell by date on December 5th of next year. So be it, we make speculaas stars then, a cross-over between Sinterklaas and Santa Claus. Because a tasty cookie doesn't go a miss during Christmas break. And also because these delicious stars are super easy to make!
In a bowl knead the mix with the water.
Knead till the dough feels supple.
Rest the dough 30 min. in the fridge.
Roll the dough to 4 mm thick.
Preheat the oven to 200°c. Cut out stars and place them on a baking tray coverd in wax paper. Press the shaved almonds in the stars.
Bake the cookies +/- 10 minutes.
Let them cool on a wire rack.
They smell delicious & they taste even better!
