What do you need?
our pattern
a sponge
felt, in various Sponge Bob colours
a pair of scissors
pins
matching thread and a needle
black embroidery yarn
large embroidery needle
4 half, yellow pipe cleaners
hobby glue
One of our mini monsters brings a new sponge with him! He would like a Spongebob, a television cartoon character. That doesn't have to be too difficult and we want to please our little monster, so here we go!
How to make Spongbob Squarepants
Cut two strips of felt, white for the shirt and brown for the pants.
Cut out all the pattern parts too, sleeves, socks, neck tie etc.
Tie the yarn on firmly before you start with sewing.
Then sew the shirt all around onto the sponge.
Pin the pants onto the sponge.
Tie the thread firmly on again.
Sew the pants firmly on the spong too.
Sew the small pattern parts.
Sew the socks of Spongebob.
Sew the sleeves.
Drill a hole just above the shirt.
Sew the sleeves on, just beneath.
Stick half pipecleaners through the sleeves into the holes, with a dollop of hobby glue
Cut the pipe cleaners to size.
Stick on the shirt collar, tie and belt.
Stick the 3 parts of the eyes on.
Sew Spongebob's shoes and trouser legs and slide them on his legs, together with the socks you made earlier
Embroider the eyebrows, mouth and stick on the teeth.
Embroider stripes on the socks and glue the legs under the trousers.
Spongebob Squarepants is ready, put him in a nice spot!
