Today we make the pawns for the Sinterklaas game. Our old pawns are falling apart, they were once made of cotton balls and pipe cleaners. Now we can at the same time show you how to make sustainable pawns. We make 10, so any unexpected guest can participate! ;))
How to make Sinterklaas pawns
Paint 8 heads in various colours + the Sint pink, then allow the paint to dry well.
Paint faces on all the heads, using a wooden skewer.
Paint various colours of hair on the heads of the Pietjes.
Cut a mitre and a cross out of felt.
Draw 2 stripes length-wise on the Sint.
Paint Sinterklaas' body white and red.
Paint two beads red, for hands of the Sint.
Stick the mitre on the head of the Sint.
Stick the beads on the Sint, paint pink hands,
Stick the beard on the Sint.
Sinterklaas is ready now but allow glue and paint to dry really well! Meanwhile finish the Pietjes
Draw a line on the Pietjes halfway down the bodies.
Paint a jacket and shorts, let it dry.
Paint legs in black tights on the underside.
Allow the paint to dry well and meanwhile make the horse
Paint pawn 10 completely white and let it dry.
Paint the piece of wood als white, let it dry.
Meanwhile cut 2 strips of felt, for a bridle.
Stick the wood together then paint black dots.
Allow the dots to dry well again then stick the bridle on the horse
Cut ears, mane and tail from white felt then glue them on.
Stick it all on the horse then paint black eyes and hoofs on it.
Paint on all the Pietjes a white collar and golden buttons.
All the pawns are ready, so the party can start!
We wish you all a happy Pakjeavond with lots and lots of presents!
