4-5 large apples
a roll puff pastry
plain flour, for dusting
110g butter, softened
130g caster sugar
optional: vanilla ice cream
With our Sunday coffee we make a quick French apple pie that is also world famous: the Tarte Tatin. With ready-made puff pastry it takes little effort. Besides, everyone here loves apple pie, so that works out just beautiful!
How you make a swift Tarte Tatin
Cut a slightly larger circle out of pastry and poke tiny holes.
In the meantime, peel, core and cut the apples,
Spread the softened butter over the bottom of the baking tin.
Spread a little butter on de sides of the baking tin, sprinkle the sugar over the butter and place the apples in circular form on the sugar
Preheat the oven to 200°C / 180°C Fan
Let the sugar caramelize in 10-15 minutes on medium heat.
Let the tin cool for 10 minutes, spread the dough over the apples and tuck it in.
Bake the tarte for 20 minutes, then turn the oven to 180°C/160° fan.
Bake the pie for another 20 minutes until it is golden brown and puffed
Remove the tart from the oven en turn it instantly out of the tin.
Place a platter on top and carefully flip the tart out of the tin.
Serve the tarte Tatin warm with tea or coffee and add vanilla ice cream, if you like, bon appétit!
