The Egyptian bookmarks of the Museum van Oudheden in Leiden gave us inspiration to make our own bookmarks. The are for young and old, so get creative too!
Here is how to make the Tut Ankh Amun bookmark
Print the template or draw your own sarcophagus.
Cut out the printed bookmark precisely.
Stick the cutting on a piece of coloured cardboard.
Cut out the sarcophagus when the glue has dried.
Draw patterns after your own imagination.
Colour the bookmark, use much gold.
Draw a face on the pharao.
The little ones can do it too.
But you have to cut the shape.
Seal the bookmark.
Read the 'how to' below.
How to seal the bookmark in plastic
Cut two rectangles from the adhesive plastic, roughly the size of the bookmark.
Peel off the back, lay it flat on the table the adhesive side up.
Gently place the front of the bookmark onto the plastic.
Press the back of the bookmark on the second rectangle.
Rub both sides firmly with a piece of cloth.
Neatly cut off the plastic around the edge of bookmark.
Punch a hole in the bottom.
Tie a ribbon through the hole.
All bookmarks are ready.
All of us are proud of our homemade bookmarks!
