Shopping list (for 1l syrup)
1 liter water
1 kg caster sugar
+/- 25 elderflower heads
1 organic lemon
Also needed
sterilized bottles
ice cubes, to taste
Last year our elder in the garden was pruned rigorously, the bush had grown so big. But that unfortunately means no elderflower this year, as they bloomed in abundance last year. Too bad, just when we found such a nice recipe to make your own elderflower syrup. You can download the recipe for making your own elderflower syrup at the top of the page.
So for now we do it like this, we buy organic elderflower syrup and make lemonade with sparkling mineral water. We sterilize bottles that we can seall and make ice cubes. Hopefully next year we have so much elderflower blossom again that we can make our own syrup.
Pour one part syrup in the clean jug.
Fill up the syrup with 7 parts sparkling water.
Stir the mixture gently to combine.
Refrigerate the lemonade to cool and fetch the ice cubes.
Pour the lemonade in glasses and add ice cubes and a straw.
We drink the lemonade outside in the sunshine, because the weather is excellent today!
